Family Friendly Advice Project
The Family Friendly Advice project is a collaboration between NHS Lothian Midwives & Health Visitors and Granton Information Centre (GIC)).
The Family Friendly Advice project offers families’ direct access to family-focused debt and welfare rights advice. Expectant mothers and families with young children or children with disabilities are referred to GIC, with their prior consent, by NHS Lothian Midwives & Health Visitors.
GIC aim to complement the work of the midwifery/health visitors’ team by providing advice and support concerning problem indebtedness and by increasing income maximisation whenever possible. Our goal is to make the project beneficiaries more financially resilient.
Once a referral has been made, the expectant mother/family are then contacted directly by GIC and offered an appointment with a trained and experienced advisor. Appointments are conducted in a Covid secure environment (or over the telephone/video call if requested).
